GIFT FOR KIDS (THEY’LL ACTUALLY USE)

{In partnership with Yoto}

One of the biggest things I look for with kids presents is something that will be used past Christmas day. It’s a tall ask but I really think hard about what they’re into and how they will use the present. In an era of so much ‘stuff’ it’s becoming harder but one item that gets used daily in our household is the Yoto Player.

The Yoto Player is on in my kids’ room every night (they love the Sleep Radio and the nightlight) and most days we can hear the Yoto Daily Podcast, The Beatles or Matilda blaring out through our kitchen. I think one of the reasons it’s in constant use is because the kids are in charge - it’s so easy for them to use, they know exactly what to do (it’s also very robust!). The range of cards is so varied, there’s sure to be a card to meet any kids’ interests - from dinosaurs to languages (we’re all learning our first words in Spanish!), bestselling audiobooks from Harry Potter to ‘The Gruffalo’ along with loads of Disney favourites. Because the cards are always evolving, it is a player that grows with your child - my daughter is more interested in the audiobooks now whilst our youngest is loving the music and shorter stories (‘Brown Bear and Friends’ read by Gwyneth Paltrow is genius).

I would recommend the Adventure Jacket for the kids to be able to carry their Yoto Players easily. A few of the kids’ most played cards (code AFF-ALEXS10 gets you 10% discount when you spend over £59 until 31st December 2024).

I love that it’s playful without a screen, it sparks their imaginations in such a wonderful way and encourages children to engage with stories and learning in a way that works for our family.

Winning cards in our household are Sesame Street: Sleepytime Stories, Bob Marley and The Wailers, The Worst Witch, The Beatles and Yoto Daily: Games (guaranteed to make everyone join in!).

Grown-ups can still access the player via the app too which is so handy (I turn it off sometimes at night, control the colour of the nightlight, set alarms and change Sleep Sounds) - and as cards are saved on the cloud I’ve even played ‘What’s That Sound’ game for the kids through our car radio when we forgot to bring them on a long journey once (I won’t be making that mistake again)!

The great thing about the Yoto Cards is that the age range means they will still be using this for years to come but it also means there’s an affordable present for grandparents/friends to access. I will be buying the new Spice Girls: Greatest Hits card for my nieces this year!

We love using the Yoto Players everyday at home and have recommended it to so many friends over the years and I’m always excited to see what cards/features they come up with next! There’s always something that catches my eye, whether it’s a subject my children are learning at school or their favourite stories brought to life. It’s a really wholesome gift that keeps in giving.

Oh and of course I have a discount code for you: AFF-ALEXS10 gets you 10% off when you spend £59 and over.

Yoto Terms and Conditions: 10% discount code (AFF-ALEXS10) for a minimum order £59 (or equivalent for outside of UK), not valid with other discounts, valid until 31st December 2024, one use per customer.
